lost in london

[ a picture and a poem - day ten ]

i hadn't dreamt in trinidad.
the clouds cottoned enough
and the ocean waved just right
when i was awake so
there was no need to
dream of running into your mother
on a crowded train in brixton
where she gave me directions
leading back to you that
i didn't hear because i was
distracted by the gap in her teeth and
the thought of the space between
your smile
and mine.
